The Plymouth Arts Center will present In Memoriam: Romance and War, the 4th concert in the Joseph Sartori Concert Series sponsored by the Sartori Company, on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 7:00 pm. Performers are: Maddison Weber, soprano; Fabian Qamar, tenor; Elisabeth Daniels, pianist; Johanna Schilling, pianist; and the Riso Quartet.
The instrumental portion of the program will include Frank Bridge’s Phantasy for Piano Quartet as well as two movements from Johannes Brahms Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60. Inspired by Goethe’s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, Brahms portrays the turmoil and angst of the emotional protagonist in the dramatic first movement and recalls the bittersweet feelings of unrequited love in the third movement.
Tickets for the concert are $10 in advance and $12 at the door for general seating. Students, college and under may purchase tickets at a discount ($5 in advance and $6 at the door).
